A couple of years ago I was keeping another Loon friend Doug Dance company at his book-signing table in the lobby of Mammoth Hotel...a familiar looking man with silver hair approached the table, Doug and I look at each other and at the man, and were delighted to see that the man was none other than John, who was in fact working the gate at North Entrance that summer.
Although he was doing well and loving being in Yellowstone, his life had taken some unexpected turns from which he was still adjusting.
He did not settle in Yellowstone, though, I think he's in Nevada or Utah, perhaps he will be back when seasonal jobs open up again and the pandemic finally settles down.
I haven't seen him since that serendipitous meeting but I hear from him on Facebook now and then. Hangin' in there!
