The habituation of Yellowstone's wolves obviously makes them more vulnerable when they leave the Park's protection. The question is whether the benefits of having readily viewable wolves inside the Park outweigh the added risks they face if and when they leave. I personally think they are, both for the overall good of the species through the accumulation of scientific knowledge and furthering the educational mission of the Park.
That being said, protecting wolves in the hunting units immediately outside the Park's borders is an idea with merit that might lessen the risks and help preserve a unique resource.
