I had the overlook area all to myself. I piled up the packs, laid my head down on one and fell asleep to the sound of the roaring water. When the fam came back up, we had a nice lunch of tortilla wraps with cheese, hummus and summer sausage along with whatever else each of us had stashed in our packs. We spend about two hours lounging here by the falls.

This photo is me at a crossing where two rivers converge. One is cold, the other thermal. Pretty neat to see the different colors in the water and then to step from cold to warmer to warm water.

This was one of my favorite hikes of the summer. I've wanted to see Union Falls for years - ever since I saw a photo of it awhile back. I always got the impression that it was an over night hike. Not true! We had no problem doing it in a day - and we really took our time.

We headed back toward Canyon with a stop at Grant Village for showers. We were hoping to grab a burger at the Grill but it was just closing when we pulled in so we picked up cold sandwiches at the store instead.
