Day 13, Friday Aug. 10, rest day. We drove from Shadow Mt. into the park and got a site at Signal Mt. We usually camp at Colter Bay when we're in the Tetons, but that was on the wrong side of a 30-minute construction delay and too far from the TH for our next couple of hikes.

I did some laundry while Mort and Steve went to the backcountry office to get a permit for our backpacking trip. The plan was to spend Sat/Sun nights in CasCan. However, there were no permits for Sat. night so we had to change our plans. Mort and the kids would do Hanging Canyon on Sat. and then we'd spend just one night in CasCan.

Mort and Steve and I spent the rest of the afternoon organizing packs and gear and then cooking a big pot of spaghetti with bison meat in the sauce. It rained a good part of the afternoon and evening.

After dinner, it was still raining so we decided to do a little critter patrol from the van. Drove Moose-Wilson Rd. Didn't see any moose, or the great gray owl that has been observed there. But we did see the beavers and they were busy, busy, busy!!!
