...vole, it was still wiggling. The owl dispatched it pretty quickly, it seems by either squashing its head or breaking its neck. I call this photo "the scream of the vole" because fully enlarged you can actually see the vole's teeth in its open mouth.

You can also very clearly see the owl's beak and serious talons.
