My last stop for the day was the Murie Ranch. I loved this place! The Murie family lived here and held conferences and meetings for conservationists on the former dude ranch. Mardy passed away in 2003 on the ranch. The ranch is still used to house researchers - the website will give you lots more info.

Mardy's former home was open for tours that day. When I walked in, it was as if she had just stepped out for a bit. I was free to wander at my own pace and browse the bookshelves. Shucks, I probably could have sat down in the kitchen for a cup of tea! I half expected Mardy to walk in the front door and greet me.

There are beautiful paintings on the walls and comfy furniture througout. I imagine, if the place begins to draw more visitors, things will change. But for now, it's a very peaceful and relaxing place to visit. I had the house to myself the entire time I was there.
