Requesting Hiking Suggestions

For the past 11 years, I've visited Yellowstone in June only. This year, I'm also going in late August trip. One of the hikes I'm looking at is The Pelican Valley (always closed in June), so I have 2 questions:

1 What's the best route/trail/destinations to see/experience the Pelican Valley in one day... no matter what the miles might be.

2 What one hike would you recommend for late August... I want to see wild places... flora, fauna and scenery... (Disclaimer: I don't want a thermal features hike).
