Day after day, both in the Tetons and in Yellowstone, the weather had been exquisite. Then one day, the one we'd hoped to revisit Grand Prismatic, it was gloomy and rainy...and still the next morning we awoke to crummy hiking weather. Our friend Connie met us at Roosevelt and in spite of the questionable hiking conditions, we headed east through Lamar to Trout Lake, with stop-offs here and there to look for wildlife. Each mile we drove the weather looked more and more promising. By the time we got on the trail, the sky was clear, and the trail was in perfect condition - dust damped down, but not muddy.
The trail is steep and short, and oh-so rewarding when you reach the lake!
