Finally, for the first time, we stopped in at the Murie Center, just behind the Moose Visitor Center in GTNP. The Center, among other things, preserves the Murie Ranch. As described on the Center website:

"Murie is the name of a famed American family of naturalists, brothers Olaus and Adolph, and their wives Margaret Mardy and Louise. Based in Grand Teton National Park, the Muries were active in conservation throughout the twentieth century."

The ranch was the Wyoming home of Olaus and Mardy, although Adolph and Louise also had a cabin on the land.

Olaus and Mardy's beautiful big cabin is open for tours at 2:00 every day in the summer. We were the only people besides our docent. I have to say our docent was not the liveliest or most interesting, but it was cool to see the cabin which has been designated a national historic landmark.
