Last fall while exploring my favorite area there along the Firehole I saw a group in bathing suits, presumably park employees, soaking in the river where the waters of a hot spring spill into the river.

Having been in that area many times over the past 10 years I cannot imagine going there after dark, let alone after drinking or smoking weed. But it is one of many "legendary" places to visit that get passed along to new employees in a verbal tradition each year. Many of them have not developed proper respect for how dangerous it can be.

In part I fault Xanterra for not effectively communicating the dangers of the park to young new employees. Perhaps a mandatory group reading of "Death in Yellowstone" would help put a sobering light on such adventures, especially after dark.
