TravelingBear,

I very much appreciate the link. We had a lengthy discussion on this mess just yesterday, while traveling to the park.

As a longtime donor, member, and director in many 501(c)3 non-profits, I believe their is enough smoke in accounting and financial reporting to justify a criminal investigation. There has to have been incredible falsity in what was reported to the IRS on annual Form 990's.

I have to believe that potential deep pocketed donors who could jump in to rescue YF are standing on the sidelines, pinching their noses, unwilling to step up, until such time as the long-needed housecleaning of the board takes place.

I am not buying Cam's talk of the risk to the Institute's assets if YF had to file for bankruptcy. Someone has "gotten" to him, preaching more of the BRAVO SIERRA that has been spewed from YF and its misguided supporters for years. Let a court-appointed trustee at the federal level wade into this mess and uncover and document the financial malfeasance; and if an excellent tax attorney, with 501(c)3 experience were to provide pro bono representation to what was YAI, those assets would be frozen, and protected.

What an irony it is that when I wore the NPS uniform, and worked in Interpretation, we were taught that visitor education was vital to protecting the resource, yet we have seen the equivalent of 21st Century PIRATES take hold of the cooperating association that was authorized by Congress to assist the NPS in that mission, and threaten its very existence.

A thought just occurred to me. I wonder if thousands of patrons of the 41 Ted's Montana Grill locations were to include little leave behinds with their tips, that implored Ted Turner to jump in to rescue YAI and its assets, we would see him provide the necessary financial assistance. I have not forgotten his early support of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition decades ago.
