Yellowstone National Park Mammoth Parade Grounds and Terraces
This camera view is of the Parade Grounds and Mammoth Terraces. Mammoth Hot Springs, located near Yellowstone’s North Entrance, is a year-round hub famous for its travertine terraces, historic Fort Yellowstone, and abundant elk populations. The area features dramatic, rapidly changing, stair-stepped hot spring formations (Lower and Upper Terraces), the Albright Visitor Center, and easy access to hiking, and nearby waterfalls.
Key Attractions & Activities: Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces: Walk the boardwalks on the Lower Terraces to see features like Liberty Cap and Palette Spring, and drive or walk the Upper Terrace Drive to see features like Orange Spring Mound. Albright Visitor Center: Explore exhibits on wildlife and the history of Yellowstone. Fort Yellowstone: Walk through the historic army buildings (built 1891–1913), now park headquarters. Wildlife Viewing: Elk are famously frequent in the Mammoth town area, particularly in the Parade Grounds area. Hiking: Trails include the Beaver Ponds Trail, Bunsen Peak, and the Howard Eaton Trail.
