There is no one designated area as the "Cave Falls Picnic Area" unlike other picnic areas in Yellowstone. Instead there are two areas where there are picnic tables along the Falls River and the Cave Falls area. The first two tables are located at the lower falls pullout parking and viewing area. These two tables are on top of a rock outcropping and are not wheelchair accessible. This is a beautiful area to view the falls and the river and have a picnic. The last table is located at the end of the road turn around. There is an accessible pit toilet and a parking area plus there are two trailheads located here. The one table is located in the middle of the little wooded turnaround area. There are no grates or fire pits or water available at these picnic areas.

There is one picnic table located at the Bechler ranger station as well as an accessible pit toilet and water (this is about 4.5 miles from the turnaround).

From Highway 20 at Ashton, Idaho, access the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway (Idaho State Road 47). Follow Idaho State Road 47 for about six miles to the Yellowstone National Park / Cave Falls sign. Take a right onto this road and continue to the picnic areas. These picnic area are about 26 miles from Ashton, Idaho, 11 of which are on a good gravel road.
