As far as I have heard, there have been 8 collared Yellowstone wolves killed in the hunt out of a population of somewhere between 88 and 106 wolves that reside at least part time in the park. I also understand that there have been collared wolves that have moved out of the park and spend most of there time out of the park that have not been killed.

I have not heard an accurate estimate of how many actual Yellowstone wolves have been killed outside of the park.

With the varying movements of wolf populations it is hard to really tell which is a Yellowstone wolf, which is a Wyoming wolf or which is a Montana wolf.

One of the keys, as the laws are wrote, once the wildlife leaves the park, they are no longer a Yellowstone animal, they are subject to the rules of the state they enter.
