and my old feet are so gross, but there's a lesson in this story too.

I finally went to the podiatrist and in his kind, gentle way he informed me that I'd been an idiot to pretend like there was nothing wrong, I was to stay off it as much as possible (which isn't all that much) and keep it taped to the one next to it as a kind of make-shift splint, elevate it etc.

So THEN I come down with an incapacitating case of stomach flu - flat on my back between trips to the bathroom - so that at least helped bring down the swelling. First thing I did after I started to recover was to get in the bathtub - another AAHHH!! But as I got out I started to slip a little, and to protect the baby managed to slam its longest sibling straight on into the wall of the tub. This is what my foot looks like today. Purty, ain't it!?!

Kevin was the one who quoted the lesson in all this: NEVER WEAR SANDALS IN WILDERNESS/WILDLIFE SITUATIONS!

And the other lesson is - take it easy! You'll get that moose shot even if you do pay attention to where your feet are as you run back to get your tripod!
