I must check with the backcountry office (among other officials) before trying this hike... that would be a giant no-win to approach Gardiner and have to chose between going back (wouldn't happen) or facing the rathe of the landowner (could be ugly). Maybe I could track him down ahead of time and get a permission slip (sorta like a hallway pass... remember those?).
