That is what makes all of us unique. I have read your posts and comments plenty of times as well. Yes, I am calling these hunters in particular poachers. I'm not calling all hunters poachers. I have read some well known blogs and they are using worse language that poachers.

My reason for using that term is not libel. It's the method these wolves (the collared YNP wolves) are being killed. I full understand the need to kill a wolf if it is attacking cattle or other livestock. These wolves were not. Also, there is the so-called "trophy hunt" which I believe is a disgrace, and not just for wolves.

The reason these collared wolves are being killed, and in particular 754M and 832F ('06) is because of who they are. If this was a trophy hunter, he would not want to kill a collared wolf as the collar ruins the pelt and pretty much makes them worthless from a trophy standpoint. This is a fact. These wolves were killed by most likely anti-wolf hunters who knew who these wolves were and wanted to brag to their buddies that they killed famous wolves. That's it. They could very well have tracked the collars to locate them. Yes, '06 had a GPS collar, but you can track them too.

Finally, if these wolves were leaving the park to attack a ranch because the food source in the park was depleted, I would have to agree with the killings. I wouldn't like it, but it would have been necessary. This is not the case here. These wolves were "legally" poached simply because of who they were.

And to be honest, it wouldn't matter to me if these were a different animal besides a wolf. The reason the animals were killed is a very cowardly one, and this is true because look and see how much attention this is getting. There was a story in the NEW YORK TIMES about 06's killing. This is getting world wide attention.

I surely hope that this tragedy sways the governments to stop this senseless killing. I do know that management needs to be done, but this is not the way to do it. I am mad at the governments for how they are handling the wolves, and I do hope for change.
